In Person & Online Counselling & Breathwork Therapy

Supporting Anxiety, Trauma and Emotional Overwhelm

At certain points in life something stops working.

You may find yourself living with persistent anxiety, emotional exhaustion, relationship difficulties, or a sense that old patterns keep repeating despite your best efforts to change them.

Sometimes the mind understands what is happening, yet the body continues to react, through tension, overwhelm, or a nervous system that never seems fully at rest.

Therapy can provide a space to explore these patterns carefully and honestly.

I offer in-person and online counselling and breathwork therapy that supports people to understand their inner world more deeply, regulate the nervous system, and develop a more grounded relationship with themselves and others.

Sessions are available online to clients throughout New Zealand and internationally.

How I Can Help

Anxiety Therapy

Persistent anxiety often reflects a nervous system that has become stuck in a heightened state of alert.

Therapy can help you understand the deeper patterns behind anxiety and learn ways to restore a sense of calm and stability.

Trauma Therapy

Experiences from the past can remain active in the body and nervous system long after events have ended.

Trauma-informed therapy offers a gentle way to work with these experiences so that they no longer shape your life in the same way.

Breathwork Therapy

Breathwork is a powerful way of working directly with the nervous system.

Through guided breathing practices, many people experience a release of tension, emotional insight and a deeper connection with themselves.

When Something Inside Feels Overwhelming

You’re Not Alone, Real Support for What You’re Facing

Many people come to therapy because something inside feels difficult to manage.

You may find yourself experiencing:

• ongoing anxiety or a sense of unease
• emotional overwhelm or burnout
• difficulty switching off or relaxing
• feeling disconnected from yourself
• patterns in relationships that repeat in painful ways
• unresolved experiences from the past that still affect you

Often these experiences are not simply “in the mind.”
They are connected to the way the nervous system has learned to respond to life.

Therapy can provide a space to slow down, understand these patterns and begin relating to yourself in a different way.

This isn’t a weakness, it’s a signal that support could help you live with more calm, clarity, and resilience

An Integrative Approach to Healing

My work integrates three complementary approaches that support both psychological insight and nervous system regulation.

Talk therapy

Exploring emotional patterns, life experiences and relationship dynamics that shape how we respond to the world.

Breathwork

Working with conscious breathing to calm the nervous system, release stored tension and reconnect with the body.

Body Awareness

Learning to listen to the signals of the body, where stress, anxiety and trauma are often held.

My work is also informed by extensive study and practice within contemplative traditions in India, alongside psychotherapy and breathwork training.

Together these approaches support a deeper process of self-understanding and emotional healing.

Areas I Work With

Anxiety & Chronic Stress

Understanding and calming the nervous system patterns that sustain anxiety and overwhelm.

Trauma & Emotional Healing

Working gently with unresolved experiences that continue to affect how you feel and respond to life.

Breathwork for Nervous System Regulation

Using breath as a powerful tool to support emotional balance and deeper awareness.

Online Counselling Across New Zealand

Therapy sessions are available online, allowing you to access support wherever you are in New Zealand or internationally.

From Criminal Barrister to Trauma-Informed Therapist

Before training as a therapist, I spent many years working as a criminal barrister.
That work brought me into close contact with the realities of human suffering; trauma, addiction, violence, loss, and the complex emotional lives that often sit behind people’s actions.

Over time it became clear that many of the struggles I saw in the legal system were not simply legal problems, but deeply human ones, rooted in unresolved trauma, nervous system dysregulation, and emotional pain that had never been properly understood or supported.

This realisation led me to retrain in talk therapy and counselling, where I began working directly with individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, and periods of profound life transition.

Alongside formal therapeutic training, I have spent more than fifteen years travelling regularly to India, where I have studied contemplative practices, breathwork, and meditation with respected teachers and spiritual traditions. These experiences have profoundly influenced the way I understand the mind, the body, and the deeper layers of human consciousness.

Today my work brings these strands together.

I offer trauma informed online counselling that integrates psychological understanding with somatic awareness and breathwork practices. This approach recognises that emotional distress is not only experienced in the mind, but is often held within the body and nervous system.

Therapy therefore becomes not only a conversation, but a process of learning to listen more deeply to the body, the breath, and the patterns that shape our inner lives.

My aim is to create a space where clients can explore their experience with honesty, curiosity, and compassion — and gradually develop a more stable relationship with themselves and the world around them.

Beginning Therapy

Starting therapy can feel like a significant step.

If you are considering working together, I offer a short introductory consultation so we can explore whether the work feels right for you.

During this conversation we can discuss:

what brings you to therapy
what you hope to change or understand
how the therapy process works

From there you can decide whether you would like to continue.

Is This Work Right for You?

People who choose to work with me are often at a point where they want something deeper than simply managing symptoms.

This work may be a good fit if:

• you want to understand the deeper patterns behind anxiety or emotional overwhelm
• you are curious about the connection between mind, body and nervous system
• you feel drawn to approaches that include breathwork or body awareness
• you want a reflective space to explore your inner experience more honestly
• you are open to slowing down and becoming more aware of what is happening within you

At the same time, this approach may not be the right fit for everyone.

My work tends to suit people who are interested in exploration and self-understanding, rather than quick techniques or short-term symptom relief.

If this resonates with you, we can begin with a short introductory conversation to explore whether working together feels right.

A brief consultation gives us the opportunity to talk about what is bringing you to therapy and whether this approach feels aligned with what you are seeking.

Daily I am reminded of how grateful I am for finding Wendy’s website and choosing her above all the other people I was looking at, to try and help me.

To know me you would have no hint of my internal struggles. I appear confident, capable and composed. But somehow, I got to a point where I had a daily feeling of dread. Typical things were terrifying me; I didn’t want to be alone, I didn’t want to travel too far from anywhere, the onset of night-time, I was petrified of hopping on a plane and going on an upcoming holiday … I was at a point where I absolutely needed to do something as things were becoming unbearable.

I searched the internet for professionals who could help me. I investigated many but there was something about Wendy that kept drawing me back to her above all others. Despite my lack of knowledge and apprehension around what “breathwork” meant and involved, I made the leap (not such a leap) and I booked an appointment. And I’m SO glad I did. Wendy has brightened and settled my days. She has given me tools and perspective that have transformed me and my ability to manage and experience things.

Working with Wendy enabled me to go on my overseas holiday, have good times, and give me the excitement of looking forward to more. She is very professional (and extraordinarily interesting). I miss my appointments with Wendy. It’s ironic to think that her business is to successfully do herself out of business – her service assisted me, to not require her service.

I think about what she gave to me often. I appreciate the tools and my new insights she opened to me. It’s funny, I HATED what I was going through, but I’m thankful for it too, because if I hadn’t, then I wouldn’t have had the fortune to work with Wendy and gain what I got from her.

My experience with Wendy has been life changing. As an upbeat person, I always thought I could do it all myself. After a tough year and noticing a pattern of overwhelm, I recognised that this wasn’t the way I wanted to be anymore.

From my first engagement with Wendy over email and then in person, I felt safe, supported and empowered. It was my first experience with a counsellor where I was excited to practice what we had discussed and completely opened my eyes to a new way of thinking and living my life, for myself.

I continue to learn from Wendy every time we meet. No matter why you are seeking guidance, I believe Wendy will help support you on your journey.

Thanks for all you do
