About Wendy Matthews
I didn’t come to counselling and breathwork from a textbook or a neatly packaged life — I came through real life, the kind that cracks you open and teaches you how to breathe again.
I ran away from home as a teenager, shouldered adult challenges far too soon, and became a young mother raising three children while putting myself through law school. At 27, exhausted but determined, I carved out a career as a criminal barrister — sharp, capable, and highly competent — yet always braced, always on alert underneath it all.
For fifteen years I carried other people’s trauma in the courtroom. That sharpened my mind but never healed my nervous system. In my early forties, everything finally caught up with me — and the structures I had relied on began to break. I was overwhelmed, anxious, and profoundly disconnected from my own body.
Everything shifted when I stopped pushing and started turning inward.
Breathwork taught me how to feel without numbing. Therapy helped me see the survival patterns my nervous system had learned early in life. And through both I began to live with more presence, clarity, and compassion — first for myself, and now for the people I walk with in therapy.
Today I’m a trauma‑informed counsellor and breathwork practitioner, blending talk therapy, somatic practices, and breath‑based work to support deep, embodied healing. If you’re tired of coping and ready to feel, breathe, and integrate your experience — you’re in the right place.
